The need for social change, by the numbers

Over the past two years, the APTS has been working to develop a new political platform. The second Carrefour des idées conference, Comprendre pour choisir (Understanding so we can choose), was held on May 5 and 6 as part of this process. An occupational therapist honoured for her contribution to pandemic response efforts

Once again, projects led by APTS members have been rewarded with Stars du Réseau de la Santé (SRS) prizes from the Caisse Desjardins du Réseau de la santé. First prize in the High-Performance category went to a protocol – implemented in record time – that helped relieve the respiratory distress of COVID-19 patients by positioning them on their stomachs. Geneviève Thériault-Poirier, an occupational therapist at the CHUM who submitted the project, agreed to tell us about it.

This year, a psychosocial team from Montérégie-Ouest took home first prize in the “People-focused category” for Projet Vigilance, an initiative based on empathetic care through outreach intervention that makes family services more accessible and helps prevent child neglect
